This month BIASA A R T S P A C E presents new works by three Indonesian artists : Samuel Indratma, Arya Pandjalu, Farhan Siki have collaborated in the past under the umbrella of a group known as Apotik Komik (Comics Aphothecary).
Apotik Komik was formed by Samuel Indratma in 1997 as a collaborative expanding group. Apotik Komik played an important role in the Yogyakarta street art movements of the 90's and early this millennium; voicing urban, political, and social issues. Various artists collaborated through a peculiar mix of sharp, direct, humorous, comic-strip style and pseudo-graffiti paintings, executed without preliminary studies or rigid plans, going far beyond the academic methods common in Yogyakarta.
BIASA A R T S P A C E has invite Samuel, Arya, and Farhan to present their evolution in a project called OPEN DAILY, that sees them working together again sharing "the same space"-this time carving out unique individual paths.
We find spray-painted canvas, synthetic enamel on corrugated iron, drawings on paper, banners, compositions of found objects and murals on gypsum board in this exhibition, where the three artists present individual works responding to BIASA A R T S P A C E itself, with gallery guests becoming an active part of the exhibition.
